Diamond Pet Food Recall

For Immediate Release

(2005) Missouri

Today Diamond Pet Food is announcing the voluntarily recall of 18 lb-55lb Premium dog food after receiving test results that the food had contained high levels of aflatoxin, a naturally occurring fungus.

Marketing Director at Diamond Pet Foods, Mark Brinkman responds, “Diamond does vigorous testing to ensure high quality in all of our products.  We want to express our sympathy if any dog was sickened or harmed by ingesting our product.  An investigation has begun because the source of the high levels of aflatoxin is unknown.”

Aflatoxin is a fungus that could damage to a dog’s liver.  It is found naturally on certain ingredients that are used to make animal feed.  Some of the symptoms of aflatoxin poisoning in dogs are fatigue, jaundice (yellowing of the eyes, and gums), fever, vomiting, and loss of appetite.  If your pet is experiencing any of these symptoms, please contact your local veterinarian immediately.

Customers that purchased Diamond Pet Food between January 1, 2005 and September 1, 2005 or with a “Best Buy” date of March 1, 2007 through June 10, 2007, are asked to return the package to their local store for a full refund.  Please visit www.diamondpet.com for more information regarding the recall and for a detailed list of the recalled products.  Or call 1-866-214-6945 to speak to a customer service representative.

Diamond Pet Food has been a family oriented business since 1970 and currently has locations in Missouri, California, and South Carolina.  The mission statement of the organization stresses on the highest quality of food at an affordable price.  Diamond Pet Food ensures this by having a 151-check quality control process, which consists of 141 ingredient checks and 10 final product checks.
